A Guide To Driving Courses

Our driving courses in Larkhill work around your needs to ensure you get the skills you require. Some of our learners only want a few lessons to see how they feel, or to ensure you’re up to scratch after being taught by a family member or friend, as sometimes their own bad habits can be (consciously or subconsciously) passed on to you when they’re teaching you.

Whereas other learners are more interested in booking blocks of lessons (for example 2 lessons per week for 2 months) or an intensive course, where you’ll be taught everything in a short period of time, sometimes as little as a week.

With that being said, here are some of the different types of courses we might be able to offer you.

Beginner

For individuals who have zero, or very little experience. They usually cover the very basics, such as clutch and accelerator control, changing gears, steering, and positioning the car on the road.

Intensive

For individuals who need to pass their test as quickly as possible, sometimes as quickly as 1-2 weeks. They usually require several hours each day and are usually more expensive than other courses.

Pass Plus

For new drivers looking to improve their skills and reduce their chances of having an accident. They typically cover more advanced skills like driving in various weather conditions, on motorways and at night time.

Refresher

For anyone who hasn’t driven in a while and wants to refresh their skills. More common amongst older drivers, or those who recently immigrated to the UK and aren’t familiar with driving on the left side of the road.

Advanced

For experienced drivers who want to take their skills and knowledge to the ultimate level. They teach you things like defensive skills and hazard perception. Some car insurance companies will reduce your insurance premium if you have an advanced certificate.

At the end of the day, these are all extras, and none of them are required. You can still sit normal lessons and then do your test at the end of them. We hope this has shed some light on the different types of driving courses available to you if you want them.
